ENDOSCOPIC SINUS SURGERY
Pre/Post Operative Instructions

General
Instructions
- DIET: After surgery, have only liquids for the
rest of the day. Advance to a regular diet the next day.
- Take medication as prescribed for pain.
Do not take any Aspirin products for one week after surgery.
- Change “mustache” dressing as needed,
but do not remove any packing or dressings on the bridge of your
nose
- Do not shower or get the bandage wet.
- Do not sleep in a position which puts pressure
on the nose. Sleep on your back.
- Elevate your head for two weeks after surgery to
reduce swelling.
- Do not place anything in your nose. Do not blow
your nose for two weeks.
- You may spray nasal Saline in your nose three times
a day starting on day three after surgery if you have problems
with congestion (some congestion is normal after surgery for up
to three months
Normal Problems
- You will not be able to breathe through your nose.
- Headache and pain around the eyes which can be
controlled with medication.
- Thin, bloody drainage which lessens and stops
within a few days.
Abnormal Problems
- Fever of greater than 101 degrees F (38.5 C) which
does not respond to fluids and Tylenol.
- Foul odor or pus coming from the nose.
- If excessive bleeding should occur call the office
immediately.

call the same number and the answering service will contact Dr.
Daube or the physician on call should Dr. Daube be unavailable.
If unable to locate physician, proceed immediately to the ER if
necessary.
