BOTOX ® INJECTIONS

There
are individuals who would like to enhance their appearance, but
do not want to undergo surgery and want as little downtime as possible.
Many individuals have turned to BOTOX® injections, a quick, virtually
painless procedure. BOTOX® is a form of botulinum toxin that, when
injected, temporarily paralyzes muscles that cause wrinkles. This
treatment reduces or eliminates frown lines, forehead creases, crow’s
feet near the eyes and thick bands in the neck. BOTOX® treatments
result in a youthful and more refreshed appearance.
BOTOX® injections take only a few minutes to
an hour to be performed, depending on the size of the treatment
area. Also with BOTOX® injections, there is little or no discomfort
involved. Plus most patients are able to return to their normal
activities immediately after receiving treatment. Generally, the
effects of your BOTOX® injections should last about 3-6 months and
further treatments may be advised. There are very few known side
effects involved with BOTOX®. These include temporary bruising, and
mild muscle aches.
Our office requires that all patients undergoing
the BOTOX® injection procedure acknowledge the potential risks and
treatment used. Please review the consent form below (available in
Word or HTML format). You may print this and bring it to our office
prior to your procedure.

COLLAGEN
Collagen / Fat injections can help restore youthfulness
in one’s appearance without the incisions and the downtime.
This procedure is especially helpful in adding fullness to the lips
and cheeks. When injected, this dermal filler plumps up the creased and
sunken areas of the face. Collagen / Fat injections can help reduced
the appearance of laugh lines, smiles lines, crow’s feet and
other facial creases. These injections result in improved skin texture
and a more youthful appearance.
Now there is always a possibility of complications
occurring in the procedure. With collagen, the risk involved is
the possibility of an allergic reaction. A skin test is performed
to help reduce this risk. Fat injections are not susceptible to
allergic reaction since the fat is harvested from the individual’s
body.

RESTYLANE
Restylane is a biodegradable gel based on hyaluronic acid,
a substance which occurs naturally in the skin. Since Restylane
is based on a non-animal, naturally occurring substance, it reduces
the risk of any allergic reaction, transmitting disease, or other
complications from occurring. No skin test is required. When injected,
it can smooth wrinkles and folds, give volume to your lips or give
shape to your facial contours. Restylane treatment sessions take
less than thirty minutes and patients can return to their normal
routine soon after. The results are instantaneous and last anywhere
from six to twelve months. Since Restylane is biodegradable, when
it breaks down, it turns into water and carbon dioxide, and disappears
without a trace from your body.

HYLAFORM
Hylaform is a gel made from hyaluronan, a natural
substance already found in your skin. No skin test is required,
and the body biologically accepts the Hylaform gel, reducing any
risk of allergic reaction or complications. When injected, the Hylaform
gives support to the skin, and results in a smoother, softer look.
This can help erase facial lines and wrinkles. Hylaform can also
be used to lift and increase your lip border. The procedure usually
takes about half an hour and patients are able to return to their
everyday activities immediately after treatment. The results are
immediate and last approximately six months.
1. Apply ice to lips 2-3 times daily for the first 48 hours and keep
head elevated.
2. Moderate Swelling will subside within 24 hours.
Mild swelling may linger for up to for 1-2 weeks. Aspirin or Motrin
will help with the postoperative healing if no other procedures
were performed.
3. Lips will be tender, use sharp instruments such
as forks carefully. You may find it necessary to cut food into small
bites.
4. Move and stretch lips as little as possible for
one week. Avoid making extreme facial expressions for the first
week.
5. Itching, redness, warmth or tenderness should be
reported to Dr. Daube immediately.
